On the Side – What to Bring for Thanksgiving
Whether you have a big family, small one or celebrate Friendsgiving, you might be a part of a holiday celebration that includes your contributing to the menu, and bringing a dish.
It’s nice when the guests are involved with the meal. You can always be sure there’s something you like, and variety is the spice of life, yes?
We all know the standards; mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and sweet potato with marshmallows. Stuffing vs. Dressing is an age-old battle, and I’m not touching it here, but changing things up is good for the soul, and tasty, too.
It’s the holidays, and I’m not afraid to use butter, have some gravy and indulge in some sweet things. Lots of us are moving away from white starch and granulated sugar, and I’ve been swapping out some of plain carbs for whole grains. I’ve cut the sugar but still have some sweet touches to familiar dishes.
Here are three side dishes that you can make any time of year. They are easy to make and will work on any Thanksgiving table. Follow the link for each recipe or, simply visit my Recipe page on this website.
You can pull these together pretty quick, and even prepare them the day before. Once cooked these are heat and eat! The salad can also be prepared the day before but dressed before serving. Yum!
Hope you all have a delicious holiday!
